Our tale of seafaring excellence commences well before our first Phinisi boat graced the waters. Patti Seery, our visionary Founder, ignited this odyssey – an entrepreneur from the United States, driven by a relentless wanderlust, an affinity for Southeast Asian cultures, and an unwavering passion for embarking on the ultimate sailing adventures. It all began with Patti's transformative journey to Mexico during her studies, a sojourn that planted the seeds of exploration deep within her soul. As her insatiable curiosity unfolded, the shores of Indonesia beckoned her in the early 1980s, setting the stage for a remarkable tale.

THE MESMERIZING ENCOUNTER WITH PHINISI

Entranced by the captivating black sails of traditional Phinisi cargo ships gracing Indonesian ports, Patti embarked on numerous sailing escapades across the archipelago. These journeys sparked a vision – the desire to curate similar experiences for foreign adventurers, showcasing the region's breathtaking beauty and Indonesia's vibrant cultures. Patti's pioneer spirit led her to establish Indonesia's first explorers club, fostering connections with local communities and crafting immersive sailing adventures that embraced the essence of the islands.

SAILING DREAMS TAKE SHAPE

Years later, a personal family voyage aboard a traditional wooden Phinisi boat set ablaze Patti's passion for authentic, traditional travel. Recognizing the limitations of these vessels and the need for comfort and safety, she set out on a mission to create something extraordinary. Her quest for skilled boat builders led her to Sulawesi, where fate introduced her to the Konjo boat builders. United by a shared vision, they embarked on the construction of the pinnacle of Phinisi craftsmanship – the MSV Silolona. Thus, Silolona Sojourns was born, embodying the epitome of luxurious seafaring.
